In Puglia about one industrial company in ten uses artificial intelligence in the production process. This is written by the Bank of Italy, L’economia della Puglia, the report on 2025 published in June 2026: the use «of predictive or generative artificial intelligence is limited to about a tenth of companies».
Robotics, in the same report, is used by about 20% of companies, even if only experimentally. In Piedmont the share of industrial companies using AI is just under 28%, according to the twin report. The gap between territories is the same one that separates small companies from large ones: a question of access.
Agrifood that exports
In 2025 Puglia's exports grew by 2.6% at current values, against 3.3% for Italy and a 1.2% fall in the South. Among the main contributions, according to the Bank of Italy, are agricultural and food products, and the production of olives and oil kept growing.
From 2019 to 2025 the region's exports grew by 10.4%, against 33.9% for Italy. But for agrifood products growth was «more intense than Italy's».
